They say loud guitars will never go out of style, and no one carries the torch quite like Halifax rockers Gloryhound. Drawing their influences from the Marshall-stack-blasting sounds of the ’70s (think AC/DC and The Stooges), this leather jacket-clad four-piece has been making waves this year in Canada and abroad.
After dropping their critically acclaimed sophomore release Electric Dusk in 2011, they began a year of rigorous touring (including a supporting slot for rock ’n’ roll heavyweights Deep Purple). The stages, and crowds, have been steadily growing.
« The only thing better than writing a song you’re happy with is playing it live to a thousand people and watching their reaction to that riff or chorus that you worked so hard to get right, » says singer-songwriter and guitarist Evan Meisner.
Electric Dusk was nominated for a 2012 ECMA Award for Rock Recording of the Year. Gloryhound will be playing at festivals like NXNE this summer, and touring Western Canada in the fall.
